Corner bracket or eaves bracket?
A corner bracket sits at the head of a verandah post, in the angle where the upright meets the beam above it. It is at eye level and it is the first thing anyone sees, so corner brackets are larger and more ornate — usually pierced fretwork or a scrolled profile.
An eaves bracket tucks in under the eaves or fascia and faces out towards the street, repeated at regular intervals along the front elevation. It is smaller, plainer, and usually cut as a solid profile rather than pierced.
If you are unsure which you need, send us a photograph of where it is going. The patterns are photographed close up, which is worth a look before you pick a code, and droppers, newel posts and corbels are priced on a separate list.
Corner brackets — fixed sizes, priced each
Heritage & Decorative Timber Products makes twenty-seven corner bracket designs numbered up to CB33 — the sequence is gapped, not continuous — and four of them come in more than one size — so the list below carries thirty-three codes. Where a design has a SMALL or X-SMALL version — CB6, CB9, CB10 and CB11 all do — it is the same pattern scaled down, so you can carry one design across a verandah, a smaller side return and a lychgate without changing the look. The numbering has gaps: there is no CB5 and nothing between CB16 and CB20, so twenty-seven designs reach the code CB33.
These are fixed sizes. Every bracket on the list below is made to a set dimension, and the dimension is printed against the code. The range runs from about 190mm across at the smallest to 610 x 475mm at the largest, so measure your opening before you choose. The smallest code, CB11ES, is not quoted with an exact size on purpose: our own records give it two different depths, so ring 03 9720 1996 for the exact size before you order that one.
How to choose a corner bracket size
Measure the clear space in the angle: down from the underside of the beam, and along from the face of the post. The bracket must fit inside that with room to fix, and it should look proportionate to the post it is sitting on — a 700mm bracket on an 88 x 88mm post looks like it is about to fall off, and a 225mm bracket on a 135 x 135mm post disappears.
The usual approach on a period verandah is to pick the largest bracket that fits comfortably in the bay, then use its SMALL version anywhere the bay is tighter.
Eaves brackets — six designs, one size
EB1 to EB6 are six different profiles on the same footprint, 45mm nominal / 42mm dressed, in treated pine, priced each. Because they are all the same size, choosing between them is purely a matter of which profile suits the roofline. They are spaced evenly along the fascia — decide the spacing that reads well from the footpath first, then count the brackets.
Timber and guarantee
Treated pine. As external LOSP H3 treated pine used above ground, our brackets carry a 25 year guarantee. Prime all faces — including the inside of every pierced cut — with two thin coats of oil-based primer before installation, then topcoat. A bracket is mostly edge grain and cut edges, so the priming matters more here than on a flat board.

Are corner brackets made to your size?
No - these are fixed sizes. Every bracket is made to a set dimension and the dimension is printed against the code. There are twenty-seven corner bracket designs under thirty-three codes, because CB6, CB9, CB10 and CB11 are also made in SMALL and X-SMALL versions of the same pattern. The numbering has gaps: there is no CB5 and nothing between CB16 and CB20, so twenty-seven designs reach the code CB33.
What eaves brackets do you make?
Six patterns, EB1 to EB6, all made at the same size, 42mm dressed. They are a compact bracket for hanging under any eave, and one of the least expensive ways to bring character back to a stripped roofline.
