This is a proportional preview: it shows how the pattern reads at your
width and height, not the finished setout. Panel sizes are worked out with you before
anything is cut. No prices are shown here — ask us and we’ll quote your panel.
What does this one cost?
Send us the pattern and the opening and we’ll price it. Internal fretwork is
made to order in our Bayswater workshop — one panel or a whole verandah.
Every internal fretwork panel is cut to the opening it has to fill. Choose a
pattern, type in the width and height of your opening in millimetres, and watch the panel
take your proportions.
These are the internal patterns — HFR1 to HFR5, HFR8 to
HFR19, DFR10 and DFR11. There is no HFR6 and no HFR7; the gap is real and the numbering is not
closed up. Three further internal designs are made as assembled panels and so are not drawn
here: FRI1 Nouveau, FRI3 Sunburst and FRI5 Grapevine. Our
external verandah fretwork is a separate range, FR1 to FR5, FR8, FR9 and FR10.
Internal and external fretwork are built differently. External
fretwork is LOSP H3 treated pine and carries our 25 year guarantee, used above ground. Internal
fretwork is an MDF insert in a clear pine frame — untreated timber, and not pine at all in
the panel — so it is interior only and carries no 25 year guarantee. That
difference is also why the two ranges price differently.
Nothing here is a price. Send us the pattern and the opening, or ring the
workshop on 03 9720 1996, and we will quote your panel.

How do I know what fretwork will look like?
Use Heritage Decorative Timber’s fretwork visualiser before
ordering. Choose an internal pattern, then enter the clear width and height of
the opening in millimetres. The preview redraws that pattern at your opening’s
proportions, so a wide, shallow hall opening does not look the same as a tall,
narrow one. Switch between the solid silhouette and line drawing, try different
finishes, and compare designs without changing your measurements. It is a
proportional design preview rather than a finished workshop setout; the workshop
confirms the final panel dimensions before cutting.
What fretwork design will fit my space?
Measure the clear opening between the inside faces of the jambs
or posts, plus the available height from the top of the opening to the lowest point
the fretwork may reach. Enter those two measurements below and compare the drawn
patterns. A design that keeps its details open and balanced at those proportions is
usually the better visual fit. Copy the resulting pattern code and opening size when
requesting a quote. Internal and external fretwork are different products; this
visualiser shows the internal HFR and DFR patterns.
What does a worked fretwork example look like?
Choose a pattern and enter the measurements of your own clear
opening. The visualiser redraws the selected design to that proportion, and
the copied specification carries the pattern code plus your opening. It is a proportional preview;
it does not confirm the finished panel cut size or workshop setout.
