Timber Window Canopy Prices — Kits & Canopy Ends
A window canopy is the small bracketed roof fitted over a window or a door. On a period frontage it does two jobs at once: it puts back a detail that most Victorian and Federation houses originally had, and it shades the glass.

What a canopy actually does
Shade in summer, shelter from the rain in winter, and less sun striking the glass in the hottest part of the day — which takes some load off what you are spending to cool the room behind it. On a west-facing window it is the difference between a room you can use at four o'clock and one you cannot.

Five designs, and why the kits are priced on enquiry
Heritage & Decorative Timber Products makes five canopy designs, WC-1 to WC-5. The standard kit is 1200mm high x 700mm deep x 2000mm wide, and wider canopies are made by adding in 300mm increments beyond 2.0 metres.
The kit rows on the table say "please call" for a reason that is worth understanding: a canopy is sized to a window, and windows are not standard. The width follows your opening plus the overhang you want at each side, and the price follows the width. Rather than publish a figure that would be wrong for most people, we quote against your measurements. Ring us with the numbers below and you will have a price in the same conversation.
Canopy ends, priced individually
WC1END to WC5END are the decorative bracketed ends — the shaped side pieces that carry the canopy roof and do all the visual work. These are priced on the list, per end, and there are two good reasons to buy them on their own:
- You are repairing. The ends rot before the roof does, because they hold water at the fixings. Replacing a pair of ends is a fraction of replacing a whole canopy.
- You are building your own. If you are making the roof structure yourself and only want the period detail, buy the ends and build between them.
Note that a canopy takes two ends, so price a pair.

How to measure for a canopy
Four numbers:
- Width of the window opening, plus the overhang you want each side. This sets the canopy width and therefore the price.
- Projection — how far the canopy should come out from the wall. The standard is 700mm deep.
- Height — the fixing height above the head of the window, and how much clearance you have below any eaves, gutter or upper window.
- What the wall is — brick, weatherboard or render — so we can talk through the fixing.
Canopies are photographed on period frontages if you want to judge the projection first, and inside the same window the interior pelmet is priced per lineal metre on its own list.
Add a straight-on photograph of the window and its surrounds. If you are matching an existing canopy on the same house, photograph that too.
Timber and guarantee
LOSP treated pine. As external LOSP H3 treated pine used above ground, our canopies carry a 25 year guarantee. Prime every face before installation — a canopy sits proud of the wall with weather on all sides of it, so the back faces and the end grain matter as much as the front. Custom sizes are available on request.
