Gable infills — GI 1 to GI 7
The infill is the decorative panel that fills the triangle of a gable end. Seven patterns, made to order to suit any size gable — which is necessary, because no two gables are the same and a stock-size infill would fit almost nothing.
Infills are priced per lineal metre by width, with a minimum charge of 1.5 metres wide.
Material and warranty. Gable infills are made from 9mm ply. The Heritage & Decorative Timber Products 25 year guarantee covers external LOSP H3 treated pine used above ground and therefore does not extend to the infills. Prime every face and every cut edge before the panel goes up, and keep the paint sound — on a ply panel in a weather-exposed gable, the coating is the protection.
Gable vents — six shapes
A gable vent is a functional item wearing a decorative face: it ventilates the roof space behind the gable while looking like part of the period detailing. Ours are made from treated pine with flywire fixed to the back, so the roof space breathes without letting insects in.

Pick the shape that echoes something else on the house — a round vent under a round-arched window, an octagonal one on a Federation gable — then check the opening you have to cut.
Gable finials — F1, F2 and F3
The finial is the turned post that stands at the apex of the gable, the punctuation mark at the top of a facade, and it is photographed in place. Three designs, in LOSP treated pine, and the choice comes down to two things: section and height.
- 45 x 45mm — the lighter section, made in 600mm and 750mm.
- 70 x 70mm — the heavier section, made in 600mm, 900mm and 1200mm depending on the design.
Scale it to the gable. A 600mm finial on a broad two-storey gable disappears; a 1200mm finial on a porch gable looks like a flagpole. As a starting point, look at the height of the gable triangle itself and choose a finial that reads as a deliberate top to it rather than an afterthought. Other sizes are available on request — finials are also used on entry lychgates and cubby houses, where the scale is different again. Barge board and decorative relief rates cover the two raking edges of the same gable, and a fascia itself is cut to your roof pitch rather than pulled from stock.
Guarantee: finials are LOSP treated pine. As external LOSP H3 treated pine used above ground, they carry our 25 year guarantee.
How to measure a gable
Four things and we can quote the lot: the span across the base of the gable, the rake length of one side from apex to eaves, the pitch in degrees, and a straight-on photograph of the whole gable. Add a close-up if you are matching existing detail.
