Rosette Corner Block Prices — Singles & Bulk Packs
A rosette corner block is the small square block that sits at each top corner of a door or window architrave. The two architrave lengths butt square into it instead of being mitred, and the block carries a turned or carved rosette on its face.

Why fit corner blocks instead of mitring
Two reasons, and the practical one usually wins.
It is the period-correct detail. Corner blocks are how Victorian, Federation and Edwardian architraves were finished. Mitred architraves read as modern the moment you look at a door.
Mitres open up. Blocks do not. A 45-degree mitre in a wide architrave is the joint most likely to gap as the timber moves through a Melbourne summer. Butting square into a block removes the mitre entirely, and it removes the need to cut one accurately in the first place — which is the difference between a confident afternoon and a frustrating one.

Two sizes, three materials
| Size | Material | Thickness |
|---|---|---|
| 67 x 67mm (small) | MDF | 18mm |
| 67 x 67mm (small) | Pine | 19mm |
| 67 x 67mm (small) | KD hardwood | 19mm |
| 92 x 92mm (large) | MDF | 18mm |
| 92 x 92mm (large) | Pine | 19mm |
| 92 x 92mm (large) | KD hardwood | 19mm |
Choose the size from your architrave width. The block should be the same width as the architrave or slightly wider — never narrower, or the architrave will overhang the block and the detail collapses. The 67mm block suits a standard architrave; the 92mm block suits the wide architraves found in older and grander rooms.
Choose the material from the finish you want. MDF is for painting: it is stable, dead flat, and takes an enamel finish better than any timber. Pine takes paint or a light stain. KD hardwood — kiln-dried — is the one to use if you are staining or clear-finishing and want the grain to show.

Buying in bulk
Every block is available singly or in bulk packs of 50, at a materially lower rate per block. Count the openings before you order: an average room has two doorways and a window, which is six blocks; a whole house very quickly reaches fifty. If you are architraving more than eight or nine openings, the bulk pack is the obvious buy.
Guarantee — read this before you order
These are internal joinery items. The Heritage & Decorative Timber Products 25 year guarantee covers external LOSP H3 treated pine used above ground, so it does not apply to rosette corner blocks in any of the three materials. MDF in particular must not be used outside. If you need a decorative block for an external application, call us and describe the location rather than ordering from this list.
